Izaak (Elias) GRINSZTAIN
Izaak (Elias) Grinsztain was born on September 19, 1895 in Zawierice (Poland).
A dealer in leather goods, he married Chawa BOMGARD, born October 8, 1903 at Iha, Poland. They had two children and in 1932 lived at n° 9 rue du Chalet in La Courneuve (north Paris suburb).
He was granted French citizenship in 1926 according to the Center for Contemporary Jewish Documentation.
He left the Paris area and moved to Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône department), where he lived at n°4 rue de la République.
For some unknown reason he went to Vichy (Allier department), where he was arrested and interned in the Mal-Coiffée German military prison at Moulins (Allier).
On July 15, 1944 he was transferred from Moulins to Drancy, where he was attributed I.D. number 25167.

On July 31, 1944 he was deported from Drancy to Auschwitz in convoy n° 77. (cf. the list of people in convoy n° 77 below)

In Le Mémorial de la Déportation des Juifs de France, Serge Klarsfeld writes about convoy n° 77: “The number of deportees was 1300. This convoy 77 (…) hauled toward the Auschwitz gas chambers more than 300 children under the age of 18. (…) 291 men were selected with I.D. numbers B 3673 to B 3963; the same for 283 women (A 16457 to A 16739). In 1945 there were 209 survivors, of whom 141 were women”.
He died on August 5, 1944 at Auschwitz, Poland according to the Journal Officiel N° 287 of December 11, 2011.
“Died in deportation” according to the decree of the National War Veterans Office dated October 6, 2011, published in the Journal Officiel N° 287 of December 11, 2011.

ton pere savait ce qu il etait advenu de ton grand pere,en 1967 le gouvernement allemand a indemnise les victimes de la shoah et leur famille et a ce moment que nous avons appris ce qu il etait advenu de ton grand pere mais tu avais 4 ans et evidemment nous n en avons pas parle.
